Lapstone Capital is a fully vertically integrated development firm. We manage acquisitions, land development, construction management, stabilization, and property management all in-house. Lapstone Capital is the syndication arm of Lapstone Construction, where we raise equity from Limited Partners and build assets that will outlive us. We offer all of our services outside of our syndicated deal on a fee-based structure.

Managing Partner
Justin Mendez
Justin is the Lead Principal of Lapstone LLC and the Managing Partner of Lapstone Capital. Over the past seven years, he's dedicated himself to building and scaling Lapstone LLC into a trusted name in construction, delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and craftsmanship.
Now, he's expanding his focus with Lapstone Capital, where he's leveraging his construction expertise to identify and develop strategic real estate investment opportunities. His vision is to scale the firm’s portfolio, maximize returns through smart project execution, and build lasting partnerships in the real estate space.
Managing Partner
Jacob Katro
Jacob is the Managing Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Lapstone Capital. After studying finance at the University of Pittsburgh, he spent two years at a private equity real estate fund, focusing on underwriting large multifamily acquisitions and gaining hands-on experience in deal evaluation and portfolio strategy. He spent a few years expanding his family portfolio before launching Lapstone Capital
At Lapstone Capital, Jacob leads the firm's investment activities, including sourcing and evaluating acquisitions, managing entitlements, overseeing underwriting and financial modeling, structuring deals, and securing project financing. He plays a pivotal role in driving the firm's growth, leveraging his expertise to navigate complex transactions and deliver successful outcomes for investors and partners.
ACQUISITIONS
We find deals off-market and on-market. The Lapstone brand has spent years to build its reputation. Over the years, countless realtors, wholesalers, and lenders have crossed paths with a property that was built or rehabbed by Lapstone. Our deep ties in the community make us top of mind for many off and on-market deals in this relational business. We also have an in-house realtor who has access to the MLS and aligned incentives.
CONSTRUCTION
MANAGEMENT
With Lapstone Construction being our in-house GC, their incentives are aligned to quote accurately, build effectively with cost and longevity in mind, with the utmost speed and care.
DEVELOPMENT
With our network of Architects, Zoning Attorneys, and Engineers, we have the network and experience to get a parcel of land or building through the entitlement process and to a shovel-ready status.
STABILIZATION &
LONG-TERM MANAGEMENT
With in-house leasing and lending partners, we are able to take that new build to a cashflowing asset with equity pulled out and ready for the next deal. Leaning on the network of Lapstone Construction, we have extremely effective property management in place to maintain the care of the buildings we build.
